State defense

Most charges filed in the State of Maine are in the state court. Hunter has experience representing clients in all state court criminal matters from murder to OUI. He has successfully defended clients charges with state felonies and misdemeanors, including homicide, manslaughter, domestic violence assault, computer crimes, firearm offenses, theft, probation revocations, and driving offenses. Maine’s criminal code can be found in Title 17-A of Maine’s Revised Statutes.


Drug charges

If you have been charged with drug possession in the greater Bangor area Hunter can help. A conviction on a drug charge can often entail a mandatory minimum sentence of imprisonment depending on the charge. Hunter has been defending clients against drug charges in the state and federal court for several years. Title 17-A M.R.S. Murder & Manslaughter Defense

If you or a love one have been arrested and face a murder charge or a manslaughter charge, Hunter will stand with you and work diligently to protect your life and liberty. Hunter has experience and success in defending people accused of murder and manslaughter and has obtained not guilty verdicts on murder and manslaughter charges. Maine homicide statutes are found in Title 17-A MRSA 201 (murder), 202 (felony murder), and 203 (manslaughter).


OUI DUI DWI Defense

If you have been charged with a OUI/ DUI, Hunter has experience in helping clients in the greater Bangor area on drunk driving charges. The Penobscot County District Attorney’s Office has a strict policy in prosecuting OUI charges. OUI charges may present constitutional issues related to the stop and search, and can involve scientific defenses at trial. OUI charges often result an administrative suspension hearing before the Bureau of Motor Vehicles. Hunter has experience and success defending people before both the Court and BMV on OUI charges. Hunter has experience and success in defending people accused of sex crimes, including several not guilty verdicts on accusations of sexual assault. Maine’s sex crimes are found under Title 17-A MRS Chapter 11 and Chapter 12.

Property crimes, such as burglary, theft and shoplifting are among the most common criminal charges. Hunter has helped many clients avoid these charges on their record whether through trial or reaching an agreement for a dismissal. Domestic Violence and Assault Charges: Hunter regularly defends people accused of domestic violence or assault, in both the criminal courts and in protection from abuse hearings. While these charges are often brought as misdemeanors, a domestic violence conviction can have serious consequences including a jail sentence and lifetime loss of your right to possess a firearm. Internet and Computer Crimes: Hunter is experienced handling internet crimes. Internet crimes often present both a complex legal and factual defense issues. Probation Revocations: Probation Revocations involve both violations of the conditions of probation, or new alleged criminal conduct. The proceedings and rights afforded to a person accused of a probation revocation differ from new criminal charges.
